pay for the trip (fixed rate) to the district

COOPERTAXI, COOPARIOCA, COOPERTRAMO, etc. The
price for one journey is about 40 reais. The
tip (10 % of the price) is not obligatory.

The main international credit cards (Visa,
Master Card, Diner’s Club and American
Express) are accepted. It is advisable to ensure
that your card will be accepted beforehand, especially
in restaurants.
Some shops will give a small discount for cash
payments.
Travellers’ cheques are generally accepted
but cheques drawn on foreign banks are not.

Most hotels offer a postal service for cards and
parcels, and a packing service.

the week. They close at 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Shopping

You are advised not to wear valuable objects
and to keep only small amounts of money on you.
You are also advised not to go out alone at night

Clothing tends to be casual in Rio de Janeiro.
